Overnight Safari, Djerba, El Jem, and the Return to Tunis
If Part 1 grounded us in Tunisia’s truth and Part 2 pushed us into adventure and mild chaos, Part 3 is pure storytelling gold. This is where the Sahara humbled us, tested our patience, froze our bones, and gave us material we will laugh about for years.
Day 6: Overnight Safari Misadventure
Before we get into the chaos of the night, let me set the scene. After the camel ride into camp, the energy was high. The sun was setting over the dunes, the fire was crackling, and the drumming had the ladies out there dancing like we had no responsibilities waiting back home. For a moment, the Sahara felt warm, welcoming, almost gentle.

Then reality tapped us on the shoulder.
Let me be clear. There was good news:
- Electricity
- Outlets
- Beds
- Two blankets
- A gorgeous sunset
- Camel stew for dinner
And for a while, the night actually felt magical. Then reality showed up.
The cold was disrespectful. My attitude was rising, so I put myself in timeout and went straight to my tent. I slept dressed like I was preparing for a snowstorm. The moment I finally warmed up and rolled over, cold air slapped me back into misery.

Then came the bathroom journey. Wrapped in a blanket with my flashlight, I stepped out and saw two shadows. I almost screamed the Sahara awake until I realized the shadows were mine.
Snoring echoed across camp like someone had central heat. By morning, four of the girls were huddled together in one tent like survivors. I walked out and said, “If I ever plan something like this again, slap me.”

We all suffered together! That’s bonding!
Day 7: Djerba and the Journey Back
We eventually made it to Djerba, where the hotel was giving a cruise ship on land. Not my vibe, but the hot shower revived both my soul and my personality.

Then came El Jem, standing tall and majestic. The ladies immediately scattered like they were shooting album covers. I reminded them: find the light, be the light.
We rolled back into Tunis ready to decompress and reflect.
Day 8: Back to Tunis
The final day was a quiet reflection. Cold deserts! Wild wind! Lessons we didn’t expect! Laughter that carried us through every moment!
Tunisia owed us nothing. It gave everything, and the ladies had the opportunity to visit Cape Angela.

Final Thoughts
Tunisia hit harder than expected. History. Culture. Warmth. Comedy. And a group that showed up fully.
This journey blended soft life, chaos, beauty, and resilience in ways none of us saw coming.
