Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) expressed its satisfaction on Friday, August 30, regarding China’s recent decision to reinstate tourism between China and the Kinmen Islands, which are part of Taiwan’s outlying territories.

This decision came as a positive outcome following a significant meeting held on August 22. The discussions involved Chen, alongside tourism officials and business representatives from Kinmen, as well as Song Tao, the Director of China’s Taiwan Affairs Office.

During the meeting, a commitment was made by Song Tao to ensure that the talks would lead to fruitful outcomes, particularly in restoring the travel links between the two regions. Chen later confirmed that the promises made during the discussions were set to materialize.

The resumption of tourism between China and Kinmen marks a pivotal moment, strengthening ties and fostering closer relations between the two sides, which could have broader implications for future cross-strait interactions.
