This rollercoaster’s innovative design includes three separate launches utilizing linear synchronous motor technology, propelling guests across rugged cliffside terrain and plunging dramatically through valleys, promising a unique and breathtaking experience.
Qiddiya: A Central Piece of Vision 2030
Situated 45 kilometers southwest of Riyadh, Six Flags Qiddiya City is a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Vision 2030 project, a national initiative aimed at diversifying and enriching the economy. Managed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the Qiddiya development aspires to become a leading global destination for entertainment and tourism, anticipating 17 million annual visitors and the creation of around 325,000 employment opportunities by 2030.
Covering 79 acres, the Six Flags Qiddiya City theme park comprises six distinctive themed lands: Steam Town, Twilight Gardens, Discovery Springs, City Thrills, Valley of Fortune, and Grand Exposition. Each area will offer unique rides and experiences, setting new standards in entertainment and thrill rides.
UK Government Provides Crucial Support
The development of Six Flags Qiddiya City is notably supported by a significant financial partnership with UK Export Finance (UKEF). In a landmark deal, UKEF provided a guarantee for a $700 million Islamic Murabaha financing facility—the largest of its kind executed by the UK government and a first in the Middle East.
This funding underscores robust UK-Saudi economic relations and opens substantial opportunities for UK businesses, especially those specializing in engineering, ride technology, and advanced safety systems. The collaboration exemplifies international partnership and underscores the UK’s strategic support for Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
Countdown to the Grand Opening
Preparations for Falcons Flight are progressing swiftly, with recent footage capturing train cars undergoing testing on the second launch track. This development signals that the eagerly awaited grand opening is imminent. Initially projected for completion in 2023, adjustments in the timeline have set the stage for a spectacular debut anticipated around 2025.
Vision to Reality
Falcons Flight and Six Flags Qiddiya City are more than just thrilling new attractions. They symbolize the ambitious vision of a nation eager to diversify its economy, attract global tourism, and foster international partnerships. Backed by UK Export Finance and developed in collaboration with global leaders in ride technology and engineering, the park represents an extraordinary fusion of creativity, technology, and international cooperation.
As the rollercoaster’s roar echoes across the Saudi landscape, Six Flags Qiddiya City invites visitors worldwide to experience an unprecedented era of entertainment, where ambition takes flight, imagination meets innovation, and thrilling adventures await.
A Diverse Array of Record-Breaking Attractions
Falcons Flight, while undoubtedly a highlight, is just one of several record-setting rides at Six Flags Qiddiya City. The park will also debut Sirocco Tower, destined to become the world’s tallest free-standing drop tower ride, offering breathtaking views and thrilling descents. Complementing this is Gyrospin, the world’s tallest pendulum ride, promising adrenaline-packed swings unlike any other.
Located near the proposed Six Flags Qiddiya City, a water park, Aquarabia, will also add appeal for families. There will be 22 futuristic water attractions, most notably the world’s tallest water coaster, and the first surf pool in Saudi Arabia at Aquarabia. This dynamic array of offerings reflects Qiddiya’s focus on innovation, creativity and delivering visitor experiences that are immersive and unparalleled.
