Embark on a remarkable 1,200-mile train journey through Thailand, crossing three countries throughout the year. This Bangkok to Singapore route operates as a regular service rather than a packaged tour, running daily, year-round.
Passengers have the flexibility to travel either northbound or southbound, making stops along the way as desired. The entire journey spans 48 hours, with fares starting at just £55.
To complete the route, travelers must navigate from Singapore to Johor Bahru, then proceed to Gemas, Kuala Lumpur, Padang Besar, and finally reach Bangkok on five different trains. Some segments are short trips, while others include overnight journeys, offering a mix of experiences. As these are local trains, amenities can be limited.
Starting in Singapore, tourists can explore attractions such as the Battlebox Museum, Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Zoo, the National Gallery, and the MacRitchie Reservoir.
In Johor Bahru, notable sites include the Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Temple, the Old Chinese Temple, the Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque, and the Royal Abu Bakar Museum.
Gemas serves as a major hub in Malaysia’s rail network, though it’s a small town with limited activities. Travelers often stay a few hours or overnight while waiting for connecting trains.
Kuala Lumpur offers iconic landmarks like the Petronas Towers, KLCC Park, the Wet Market Bazaar Baru Chow Kit, and Badan Warisan Malaysia.
Padang Besar features attractions such as the Adityawarman Museum, the Colonial Quarter, Kilim Geoforest, Langkawi Wildlife Park, and Underwater World Langkawi.
The journey concludes in Bangkok, where visitors can marvel at the Grand Palace, Lumphini Park, the Golden Mount, and a collection of golden temples including Wat Pho, Wat Arun, and Wat Phra Kaew.
