How Hotel Stays Post Lockdown Will Change
As we’re all aware because of the global pandemic crisis, so much of what we were used to, when traveling, is absolutely turned on its head. In collaboration with my guest author, this post touches on …
Hotel Stays Post Lockdown and what we can now expect, as the new normal. With things having now returned to somewhat normal conditions, the question of safe; tourism and travel still remains, and is a concern most everywhere.
In many cases, even with communication and clear guidelines, what to expect remains a source of mystery. This, after all the; social distancing, mask requirements and hand sanitizing, that we all became accustomed to.
Looking Ahead For The Hotel Industry

Prior to COVID-19 and the overnight 180 degree turn of our lives, both private and public, hotels were characterized in terms of; hospitality, friendliness and a sense of welcome.
As an enormous player in the global economy, contributing over $3.41 trillion USD, the pressure for hotels to reopen as safely as possible, was a priority. Not just hotels, but every business big and small.
In fact, Reuters reported during the pandemic on a United Nations study that;
“Global tourism revenues are expected to fall by up to $3.3 trillion due to coronavirus restrictions based on the most pessimistic scenario for the industry, with lockdown measures lasting 12 months.”
Changes In Hotels Health Protocols
Photo by Andrea Piacquadio from PexelsWe definitely have seen new health protocols set in place the last couple of years, as hotels and other accommodations have since reopened for business.
You may still expect to see clear messaging from most properties, that they are committed to; minimizing the virus spread, while making sure you feel safe and welcome at the same time.
Killarney Hotels for example, had developed a list exploring the ways; ‘Hotel Stays Might Change After Lockdown’ and have changed, after reopening.

Their list covered topics in changes including;
The Booking Stage;
The Room Stay;
The Restaurant|Bar|Room Service;
Leisure Areas;
Transport Areas – Lifts & Stairs;
What You Could Expect To See In The Future.
Update
We’ve taken two international trips abroad in the last couple of seasons, and were so pleased with the airlines and hotels we chose. They did their utmost, adopting strict safety measures, to keep their guests as safe from illness, as could be expected.
I also now believe, that we will see much improved standards for cleanliness in; transportation, accommodation, dining establishments and much more!
I am sure we are all aware of the practices in effect for preventing this dreaded covid pandemic. As a quick reminder and especially if you traveling by; air, rail or public bus;
Wash your hands frequently, especially before eating;
Carry hand sanitizer and use frequently;
Avoid touching any surfaces used by others;
We all need to do our part, in preventing the spread of illness, both at home and when we’re
away traveling.
Above all, be safe and stay safe always!
