Premium Comfort Aboard The 787-9 Tahitian Dreamliner
After wanting to visit French Polynesia for many years, we finally made this happen this season. One of our flights was with Air Tahiti Nui in their Moana Premium Class section.
Below, is a look at our experience flying in …
Air Tahiti Nui Moana Premium Class
Air Tahiti Nui Moana Premium Class Experience
We enjoyed two flights with Air Tahiti Nui, flying to and from Los Angeles to Papeete, Tahiti in the beautiful islands of the French Polynesia.
After many years of travel, we now try to at least fly Premium Economy whenever we can on long haul flights
The little extra comfort in my opinion, can make a world of difference on those long flights. We have airline credit cards that we’ve used for years, and always use them for upgrades to Premium Economy and/or Business Class.
It may take a few years to build up enough reward points, but it’s worth it!
Air Tahiti Nui Airport Check-In
As an added feature, Moana Premium Class passengers have a dedicated check-in area with Business Class. With this size of aircraft and when it’s filled to capacity, this definitely is a bonus.
You also enjoy priority boarding after Business Class and other elite members.
The 787-9 Tahitian Dreamliner
Their fleet of aircraft are exclusively Boeing 787- 9’s, appropriately named; Tahitian Dreamliner.
This is a beautiful aircraft and their Tahitian Dreamliner has a very unique, colorful interior design. Right away you get that feeling, you’re heading to someplace warm & tropical!
Their premium cabin seat configuration is (2-3-2), with 5 rows total.
This is a new generation aircraft equipped with the latest technology including; air renewal system, anti-turbulence sensors, quieter engines, large windows, wi-fi and much more.
Air Tahiti Nui Moana Premium – Seating
This airline has chosen ZODIAC Aerospace, to equip their aircraft with Moana Premium Z535 seating.
“The Z535 seats feature a unique structure that provides an optimal 96.5 centimeters (38 inches) of space between each row and a 20 cm (8 inches) seat back recline.”
This class of seating includes an adjustable leg and footrest, for extra comfort.
Moana Premium Class – Amenities
As you board the aircraft, there’s a sealed large fleece blanket, cushion and a nice amenity kit, resting on your seat for you.
Your kit includes:
Eye Mask … Socks … Dental Kit … Ear Plugs … Refreshing Towelette
A nice addition for our long 8 – 8 1/2 hour overnight flights to and from Papeete.
Entertainment In Moana Premium Class
This new generation aircraft is equipped with in-flight wi-fi {for an extra fee}, and each seat back has individual high-definition touch screens with the latest Panasonic eX3 entertainment system.
Premium passengers have a larger 33 cm (13 inches) diagonal touch screen, for viewing a large assortment of movies and much more. There’s also music and video games as well to choose from.
Moana Premium Class – Meal Service
Normally with other airlines we’ve flown with in the past in Premium Economy, our meals have been an upgrade from that of Basic Economy Class.
Unfortunately, this is not the case with this airline. Our meals were the same, which came as a surprise. Their meals are designed with Polynesian, French & Asian cultures in mind.
Although just standard, they were, however, quite satisfactory in taste overall.
You do receive complimentary drinks with your meals including: bottled water, soft drinks, fruit juices, coffee, tea, wine and beer.
Overall, we found the seating, additional space, and reclining features to be quite nice and very comfortable.
This is a curtained off section of the aircraft, similar to business class in front. So, you do have access to your own toilet facility on either side of the aircraft. This is separate from those seated in basic economy.
Mind you, there’s nothing stopping others from going through the curtain to use the toilet. However, it was still nice to have instead of standing and waiting in lines to use busy toilets.
Check in both times were quick and easy, with very friendly agents, as well as our flight attendants on board.
Is the extra cost for this upgrade worth it? For us, the answer is … Yes.
We wouldn’t hesitate to book with Air Tahiti Nui in this class again. Both our flights departed and arrived on time, without any hiccups.
